Getting ready for the Bristol Harbour Festival Cardboard Boat Race!

A fantastic way to have fun and promote recycling at the same time!

On 21st July, our Sales Director Helen, daughter Jo and nephew Logie will be racing their handmade cardboard boat in the Bristol Harbour Festival Cardboard Boat Race 2018.

This ‘very silly event’ is watched by about 6000 spectators.  The Green Ninja will set sail at 12 noon from the Alnolfini Pontoon.  Helen comments “With only a few evenings to build our cardboard boat, it has been a challenge! No plastic, metal or wood allowed, including the oars so fingers crossed that we stay afloat and don’t have to swim to shore!”

The event supports the My Future My Choice Learning Ships Programme which works with over 1000 young people each year offering exciting, practical ways of engaging students and their families with maritime heritage and cultural landscape.  The programme also inspires students to think about their own careers and future paths.

Here are some pictures of the cardboard boat in the making which isn’t quite finished yet so let’s hope we are ready to set sail tomorrow!

We will keep you updated…
