World Land Trust has a spectrum of Carbon Balanced projects, which Impress are involved in. One in particular is the forests in North Central Vietnam which contain exceptionally high levels of biodiversity and are important on both a national and global scale.
The Annamite Lowland Forests are home to a host of rare and threatened species, including one of the rarest mammals in the world.
Despite global importance, the forests are being degraded as a result of illegal logging, and wildlife is threatened by extensive hunting.
World Land Trust is supporting conservation in Khe Nuoc Trong in partnership with Viet Nature Conservation Centre (VNCC) with funding from the Carbon Balanced programme, by protecting and aiding the recovery of the forest. Approximately 50,000 tons of C02 are sequestered every year as a result of this important conservation programme.
